Codemasters to announce 'Grid 3' on April 22? Vroom!

Codemasters has released a short but mysterious teaser trailer that may hint at the upcoming release of Grid 3. The short video may also add veracity to the rumors that Grid 3 will be released this coming April 22.

The Codemasters title Grid 2 was released almost a year ago but the company may already be preparing to release a sequel to their racing video game franchise. The Grid franchise is an urban racing game where players get to experience racing about notable real world locations such as Paris and other famous cities. The game was released for the PC, the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 but their new title may also be released for the latest generation consoles such as the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One.

The Grid franchise has received praise for the innovative handling system released in Grid 2. The developers of the game refer to the handling system as "TrueFeel." Codemasters say that their handling system was built to balance out a player's need for both ease of use and realism.

The teaser trailer came with the mysterious title "Brace Yourselves...Racing is Coming." Codemasters may have pulled a Game of Thrones reference in the new video but aside from the title, a #RACINGISCOMING hash tag and a date (22.4.2014), the video doesn't indicate anything more.

The video starts out with a black screen and after a few seconds, red light effects splash through the screen along with some automotive sounds in the background.

"You'll get nothing more out of us than that, go follow GRID on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ if you want to know more," Codemasters teasingly added in a blog post.

Codemasters is a veteran video game company founded in 1986 by David Darling (formerly from Mastertronic) and Richard Darling. The company came out with a few notable titles for the Commodore 64, the Atari ST and other early video game consoles. Over the years, the company has racked up an impressive portfolio of video game titles for various consoles. They also worked on a free-to-play online game called Lord of the Rings Online.

There have been various rumors going around the rumor mill indicating the Grid 3 may be on its way. Moreover, Codemasters has confirmed that the event hinted in the video will not involve a DLC release for GRID 2, which adds a touch of credibility to the Grid 3 rumors.
