Players may have downloaded Bungie's Destiny 1.2.0 update last week, but the developer has yet to officially enable the latest set of changes to their popular online shooter.
The reason? A technical problem that may have affected a large number of players. Bungie community manager David Dague, better known as DeeJ, took to the Destiny forums yesterday to fill players in on the details.
"I've spoken with the finest minds at Bungie about Update 1.2.0 just moments ago," DeeJ wrote. "They're working to correct a late-breaking technical issue that would have impacted the way the game launches for a large portion of you. Progress is being made."
On Thursday, DeeJ gave yet another update on the status of Update 1.2.0.
"Solutions for technical issues that have delayed the delivery of updates have been identified," he wrote. "Work is ongoing and we'll release the new content and the Patch Notes as soon as we can. Stand by for more information on timing."
As the update was intended to precede the May 19 release of the game's second expansion, House of Wolves, some are wondering if the expansion will be delayed. DeeJ said Bungie will release "new content" and the Patch Notes for Update 1.2.0 as soon as possible — but it's unclear what he means by "new content." Is he referring to the expansion, since Update 1.2.0 doesn't technically include new content, but fixes and modifications to the existing game?
Regardless of whether or not House of Wolves releases on time, it isn't stopping the Bungie marketing arm from releasing a new gameplay trailer highlighting some of the new locations, weapons and armor coming in the expansion. Check out the trailer below.
