"House of Wolves," the second expansion pack for Bungie's massively popular space shooter Destiny, will be released on May 19.
Bungie has finished all three of its planned live stream events for "House of Wolves," which means that all the information that can be known about the expansion prior to the release has probably been revealed.
What can gamers expect from the upcoming expansion?
House of Wolves Missions
"House of Wolves" will, of course, feature new missions. The story goes that the Queen is calling upon Guardians, which are the gamers, to help in hunting down aliens named the Fallen who were once serving the Queen. The Fallen, however, decided to rebel, and gamers will be involved in at least three story missions under the new expansion.
The Shadow Thief
The Shadow Thief is an all-new cooperative strike for three players. Gamers will hunt for Taniks, a Fallen mercenary living on the moon in a House of Wolves Ketch spaceship.
Prison of Elders
Prison of Elders is a new arena mode that requires players to go through five rounds of enemies that increase in difficulty after each round, with each round featuring three successive waves and a random boss fight. The rewards for going through the Prison of Elders have not yet been revealed, though.
Trials of Osiris
Trials of Osiris is a new multiplayer mode that gives players scorecards. Gamers can complete their scorecards by getting up to a maximum of either nine wins or three losses, at which point it can be turned in to receive specific rewards. The multiplayer mode pits two teams of three Guardians against each other, with teams scoring a point for eliminating the opposing team. The first team to five points wins.
New Arenas
"House of Wolves" will add three new arenas to Destiny, with a new Crucible location that will be exclusively only for owners of the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
Double and Performance-based Rewards
Players that complete multiplayer sessions will receive double the rewards, and for the first time ever, the performance players will help in determining the rewards that they receive.
New Gear, Weapons and Armor
There will be lots of new equipment that will have the same theme as Prison of Elders and Trials of Osiris. The ceiling for the power levels of Guardians have also been raised, and gamers will be able to upgrade all the exotic and legendary armor to match the new level.
The Queen's Bay
Previously, the only social space available for gamers to do things such as purchase weapons and claim bounties is Earth's Tower. "House of Wolves" will grant access to The Queen's Bay, located in the Reef, which is a new area in between Mars and Jupiter. The Reef will feature new vendors, plus new missions that are related to the storyline of "House of Wolves."
