A member of the sporting species of serial killers will take its trophy hunt to the latest installation in the Mortal Kombat franchise. The Predator has been revealed as the latest DLC character to join Mortal Kombat X.
The Predator's trailer also reveals Mortal Kombat mainstays Tremor and Tanya will be returning in the upcoming game. Like Jason Voorhees, the Predator will be available in Mortal Kombat X's $30 season pass.
If It Bleeds, We Can Try To Kill It
While developer NetherRealm will undoubtedly try its best to balance the trophy-hunting alien, the Predator was born for the type of competition contestants in Mortal Kombat X will throw at it.
The agile and imposing Predator can withstand gunshots (Styker), intense heat (Kung Lao), extreme cold (Sub Zero) and radiation (Raiden, sort of). Its superhuman strength should rival Jax's abilities and its invisibility cloak puts it on par with Smoke.
Just know if there are luminous drops of green fluid spotting from it, that's what it humans call "bleeding" and those efforts to dispatch the Predator are starting to pay off. The tall, alien creature may also have a bit of trouble breathing if its respirator is pulled off of its face.
Guts, Glory and Guts and Guts
A week before NetherRealm revealed the Predator, Crystal Lake began bubbling and the beloved Jason Voorhees announced he's postponing retirement to go on one more killing spree.
The Predator may have its spectrum spotting mask and its invisibility cloak, but Jason totes a machetes and swings it with a never say die mentally. And the rest of Mortal Kombat X's cast has become legendary because of the creative ways they've thought up to dismember, disembowel, de-bone and destroy their competition.
The other characters revealed so far include Johnny Cage, Kano, Kitana, Raiden, Mileena, Reptile, Scorpion, Goro, Jackson Briggs, Sonya Blade, Kung Lao and Sub Zero.
Mortal Kombat X will release on April 14 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will release at some point in the summer of 2015. Characters rumored to join the game include Stryker, Nightwolf, Cyrax, Smoke, Erron Black, Sindel, Kabal, Rain and Fujin.
