The latest news and rumors behind Apple may focus heavily on the iPhone 17 Air, generative AI, and Siri, but that does not mean other devices are already forgotten, as a new rumor about the Apple Watch's upgrade has recently made rounds on the internet.
While it will reportedly not be made this year, the Apple Watch is set to get its next-generation upgrade with the integration of Apple Intelligence and even a camera.
Apple Watch Rumors Claim a Camera Is Coming Soon
The latest edition of Mark Gurman's Power On newsletter via Bloomberg shares that the next big upgrade for the Apple Watch is set to deliver a built-in camera lens for the wearable device.
Moreover, Apple will not stop with one version of the Apple Watch when it comes to the inclusion of cameras as there will reportedly be multiple iterations of the smartwatch that will feature lenses.
It was revealed by Gurman that these massive changes for the Apple Watch may be seen in the coming year or two from the Cupertino-based tech giant.
Apple Watch with Apple Intelligence and Camera
Apple Intelligence's future upgrade will also make it to the Apple Watch soon, and these cameras will greatly help in expanding more on what it has to offer with "Visual Intelligence" capabilities that will be powered by in-house tech.
Furthermore, Apple wants to lessen its reliance on ChatGPT and Google's AI for its Visual Intelligence plans, with the Apple Watch cameras looking to significantly help in its transition. Gurman also mentioned that this is also the end goal for the AirPods with camera lenses.
Both the standard and Ultra Apple Watch variants will reportedly get the cameras. For the standard Apple Watches, the company will integrate it inside the display, similar to what iPhones have now.
The Ultra, however, will reportedly have a side cutout alongside the digital crown and side button.
The Foldable Saga From Apple
Apple has been known as the company that popularized the smartwatch experience. However, it has not been smooth sailing for the Cupertino-based tech giant in terms of its wearable technology as the company lost its top spot in smartwatch global shares to Huawei.
The long-running legal issue that Apple had with Masimo has also affected their popularity in the smartwatch market as they were scrutinized for their use of the blood oxygen feature on the device. Because of this patent infringement case, the courts have ordered Apple to remove the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 devices from its physical and online stores, never to return again with Apple Watch Series 10's release.
Apple remained stagnant with its development of the wearable technology, but the good thing is its work on the Apple Watch does not stop there. Soon, the world will see a smarter and feature-packed Apple Watch that focuses on massive technology like generative AI.
