Back when Apple announced all the generative AI upgrades for iOS 18 via WWDC 2024, the company followed it up with ads that talked about what is coming next. Now, they have to deal with a new lawsuit due to their advertising.

The lawsuit accuses of false advertising, alleging that Apple has made ads where it showcased the different features that Apple Intelligence and Siri are set to bring that are still unavailable to this day.

Apple Faces False Advertisement Lawsuit

A new report from MacRumors reveals that Apple has been served with a new lawsuit which claims that they made false advertisements regarding Apple Intelligence and Siri for iOS 18 and the iPhone 16 lineup.

According to report, the complaint claims that what Apple has showed in its ads have not been made available to users, particularly when it comes to the features for Siri.

In a report by Axios, the lawsuit said that Apple built up a "reasonable customer expectation" for its generative AI developments that should be available for users when they buy the new iPhone.

The lawsuit likewise accuses Apple of trying to convince users to make the upgrade to their latest smartphone while leveraging the said features that did not arrive.

Siri, Apple Intelligence Delays Cause Quite a Stir

While Apple delivered several generative AI features with Apple Intelligence and Siri, these are nowhere near the massive experiences that the company promised. Later on, the company announced that several of these features are facing a delay, which has caused a stir in the tech industry.

The lawsuit alleged that Apple continued to promote Siri features despite the company knowing that they would not be able to deliver. Now, the plaintiffs are seeking damages for customers who bought new Apple devices promising these upgrades.

Apple's Delays on Generative AI Developments

Even before the company announced what it had planned for iOS 18's massive AI upgrades, Apple had already been criticized for the delays in delivering generative AI features, lagging behind Google, Microsoft, and more.

However, the problem is that the company has already made massive claims on what is coming with Apple Intelligence and Siri once they arrive via iOS 18 in the developer's conference last year, and this was what the public expected from them. Analysts have claimed that, despite the arrival of Apple Intelligence, it is "at least two years behind" its competitors, and executives later confirmed that there are indeed delays.

For Apple Intelligence alone, Apple had to spread out its feature drops the past months, and the latest iOS 18.4 delivered only a handful of the promised features, alongside other improvements.
