It is no secret that Siri's latest version is not what Apple promised to the world as part of its focus on improving the AI experiences for its devices, and the company is doing what it can now to make these upgrades happen.

Amidst the massive delays on Siri's upgrade, the Cupertino-based tech giant is now reportedly shaking things up internally, particularly when it comes to leadership.

Apple Reportedly Shakes Up Siri Leadership

The latest report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reveals that Apple is now shaking up Siri's leadership and management to help expedite the developments as the company is prioritizing its awaited upgrade.

Because of this, Vision Pro's head, Mike Rockwell, is reportedly the new person in charge of leading the Siri team. Rockwell has served as the head of Apple's Vision products for several years now.

The goal for Apple now is to reportedly fast-track Siri's development with this latest change, particularly as the previous management of the team failed to deliver on the promised upgrades for the AI assistant with iOS 18's release.

The Advanced Siri Is Still Coming From Apple

Gurman also reported that while Rockwell does not have any AI background, he has been critical of Siri's development for years. He has even gone as far as to suggest what needs to be done for the AI assistant's overhaul.

With this step towards a new direction, the goal for Apple is to still deliver the advancements planned for Siri, with the previously revealed timeline for 2027 remaining unchanged.

Siri's Massive AI Upgrade Still Faces Delays

The massive promises by Apple in WWDC 2024 regarding the upgrades that Siri badly needs has been widely anticipated. This includes the likes of Contextual Understanding, a UI revamp, generative AI experiences, and more. Unfortunately, only some of it was able to make it into current releases because of development challenges.

The goal for Siri is to offer the massive AI features that it has lacked over the past years, and the company's VP of Software, Craig Federighi, has admitted that its current iteration is not yet "that smart."

Apple's promise centered on iOS 18 delivering these massive upgrades for Siri, but this did not happen. The company now seems to be hoping that a leadership shake up can speed things up.
