The next-gen AI DJ on Spotify's music streaming platform is now expanding with a new voice and dialect, adding the Spanish language as one of its choices for the experience. Currently, this AI DJ feature on Spotify offers bilingual experiences for users on the platform, each having its distinct sound and name, with 'Livi' as the Spanish voice, and 'X' for English.
With this AI DJ feature, users could immerse themselves in a live radio streaming experience, complete with the song's information and more.

According to the latest blog post from Spotify, a new update to its AI DJ is now available for users to expand more ontheir experiences, with the tech offering bilingual capabilities with a new voice and dialect. This new AI DJ is called 'Livi,' and Spotify based this voice on its senior music editor, Olivia Quiros Roa, to deliver this Spanish language experience for the feature.
It is currently available to access in Latin America and Spain markets under the beta, but would only be available for select Premium subscribers.
This focus on Spanish would deliver the same experience as its English counterpart but would offer an understandable approach, applicable to native speakers.
Spotify DJ: Livi is for Spanish and X is for English
Livi's release follows up on Spotify's first AI DJ which was made available in February last year, with X (not the social media) delivering the experience in English. X was based on Spotify's staff member, Xavier Jernigan, and has delivered on this feature that offers a non-stop playlist with special commentary done by the AI, adding context and information to the streams.
Spotify and its Recent AI Developments
The wave of AI developments from different platforms, particularly entertainment and streaming, has been on the rise, with Spotify among the companies that are experimenting or adding said experiences for users. Among the first AI features on Spotify is its generative AI playlists where users may get their tailored song collection by telling its chatbot-esque assistant via prompts.
Apart from the listening experiences of its consumers, Spotify's AI developments are also meant to expand more onwhat it has to offer for all. A previous report centered on Spotify's AI voice translation tool that can replicate a creator's voice and transform their content into other languages that would allow worldwide users to understand it easily without deviating from the source material.
Despite being open to generative AI features on the platform, Spotify is still blocking AI-generated songs from streaming on its platform which started with Heart in My Sleeve by the deepfaked Drake and The Weeknd. Last year, Spotify brought the world Xavier as its English AI DJ, and the company is now making it bilingual with Livi's introduction, its Spanish version for Latin American users.
