Spotify introduced a new tier in its Premium subscription that offers a slightly cheaper monthly payment fee, and this new choice is sacrificing access to Audiobooks for a lower price. This comes after Spotify brought a price hike on its monthly subscriptions for users earlier this month, with this being the first time the Swedish streaming platform introduced a lower tier.
While this is a stellar option, the price difference from its previous Spotify Premium pricing is not great, but it still gives the user a choice.
Spotify's Cheaper Premium Plan
Spotify's latest press release announced the latest update on its Premium tiers, with the company adding a fourth option for subscribers to enjoy its ad-free services. This new tier is called 'Basic,' and it is a cheaper version of the previous lowest tier, a.k.a. Premium Individual, which gets the ad-free, unlimited music streaming experience and not much else.
This is because Basic removed the 15-hour Audiobook credits that US subscribers are entitled to on the app, with only the music streaming experience included in its $10.99 monthly fee.

Spotify Premium Tier Prices Now Updated
Spotify's latest update on its Premium pricing is as follows:
- Basic - $10.99: Ad-free, unlimited music streaming without audiobooks.
- Premium Individual - $11.99: Ad-free music streaming with 15 hours of audiobooks for a single user.
- Premium Duo - $16.99: Ad-free music streaming with 15 hours of audiobooks for two separate accounts.
- Premium Family - $19.99: Ad-free music listening experience with 15 hours of audiobooks for up to six family members.
- Audiobook Access - $9.99: Additional 15 hours of audiobook credits per month.
Basic and Premium Individual do not differ much and only offer a $1 discount, but this already removes 15 hours of audiobook credits, an add-on that would cost users $9.99 if they wanted to stream this experience.
Spotify Premium
Certainly, one of the best ways to enjoy Spotify and its massive audio and music streaming library is through Premium, its paid service that delivers the top experience for all. However, June saw a massive price hike from the company, and it follows last year's subscription increase, with this new pricing to cost users an extra $1 to $3 per month.
One of the previous changes on Spotify Premium was granting its users more Audiobook credits. This was first introduced in the United States only, but now, other countries are getting it, too. US Spotify subscribers got 15 hours of Audiobook credits before, but they are only arriving in Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand without an additional cost.
It is known that Spotify Premium has offered unlimited, ad-free streaming since it first started, allowing users to enjoy the latest and most complete music streaming experience in the world. Amidst its new pricing, Spotify added a new tier called 'Basic' under the Premium program, which excludes the 15-hour Audiobook credits for a $1 cheaper monthly payment.
