The latest installment in Activision Blizzard's top action-shooter franchise, Call of Duty, is confirmed to be released this year. The rumored Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has become a new franchise sub-series.

It was unveiled at the recent Xbox Games Showcase, which was one of the event's features. Black Ops 6 is reportedly the first game in the series to come to Xbox Game Pass. It is also Microsoft's first-party game to be launched for the Xbox platforms.

The world was recently greeted with the global reveal and confirmation of Activision Blizzard's Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. This follows the Black Ops Cold War in the series, which is referred to as Black Ops 5. It serves as a sequel to the end of the Cold War.

The game is set in the 1990s and will feature the signature Black Ops experience. It will also feature a political conspiracy behind a force that infiltrated the US government in its single-player campaign.

Raven Software and Treyarch Games developed Black Ops 6's campaign, which includes new experiences, such as "Omnimovement," a more realistic maneuvering experience that allows players to dive, sprint, and slide in any direction and rotate 360 degrees even while on prone.

Pre-Order Bonuses and More From Black Ops 6

Activision Blizzard also unveiled its pre-order bonuses for Black Ops 6, which will be available on multiple platforms and in different editions. The game will be available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, Xbox Game Pass, and PC.

Players can choose to get the Standard Edition (PC) game, the cross-gen bundle version (all console versions of the game except for the Physical PlayStation 5 Edition), Open Beta early access, or the Woods Operator Pack.

However, those getting the Vault Edition will receive all the pre-order bonuses, which include a Hunters vs. Hunted Operator Pack, Blackcell, Mastercraft Weapon Collection, and the Gobblegum Pack. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available in October.

The Call of Duty Franchise

In the weeks leading up to the Xbox Games Showcase event earlier this month, there were rumors that Activision Blizzard would make a special announcement about its new Call of Duty game.

A recent Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 leak about Zombies has also given fans hints on where the game might go. Recent leaks of the game showed Frank Woods, a character first introduced in the original Black Ops, reanimated as a zombie.

The Modern Warfare era, alongside Ghost and his team, is over for now, as the Activision Blizzard team is not following up with another remake that continues the series.

Instead, the team focuses on the new game, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which will be released on October 25 and will feature an all-new experience due to its massive improvements in its gameplay and system.
