The upcoming arrival of the PlayStation Portal is met with significant roadblocks, and one of them is the limited connections to other tech, particularly with wireless audio devices, with Sony's Pulse Explore the only thing working with it. No other wireless earbuds will be available to use apart from this, and the Japanese company has announced that it will soon be available by this December.
Pre-orders are soon going live in the next week for the Pulse Explorer, alongside another tech which is also required for this experience.
The Sony Pulse Explore is Available Come December, Pre-Order Here
PlayStation has announced via X that its Pulse Explore, a set of PS5-themed wireless Bluetooth earbuds, is launching for select markets starting December 6. The Pulse Explore is an accessory made for the PlayStation experience, with Sony making it the device to use for all PlayStation Portal needs, as well as the PS5, along with its wireless headphones version.
According to its blog post, the PlayStation Pulse Explore would be available for only $199.99, the same price as the PS Portal, and would deliver the Sony audio experience for users that delivers the "best" experience for the handheld.
Pulse Explore, Elite: The Only Wireless Audio for PlayStation Portal
The Pulse Explore, alongside the wireless Bluetooth headphones, the Pulse Elite, and the PlayStation Link USB adapter for low latency would all be available for pre-orders starting Thursday, November 9. It is important to note that while the Pulse Explore and Elite are the only recommended wireless audio devices for the PlayStation Portal, Sony still encourages users to use the PlayStation Link USB adapter for better connections.
Sony's PlayStation Portal and the PlayStation 5
Earlier this year, the tech industry greatly speculated the arrival of a new PlayStation handheld, a device that would match up against the likes of the Nintendo Switch, Valve Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and more. Initially, it was speculated as a revamp of the PS Vita, a previous handheld from Sony which it phased out before.
However, it was not a revamp of the PS Vita, but another device initially known as the "Project Q," greatly speculated by different analysts, and even leaked by Microsoft via its acquisition hearings. This device is another name holder for the famed initials of Sony's previous PSP, a.k.a. the PlayStation Portable, and this was the most successful handheld of the company.
Now, the dawn of PlayStation's Remote Play is here, and while it was meant for devices like computers and laptops, Sony is bringing it to a special handheld for the experience. As limited as it could get, the PlayStation Portal is also making wireless audio connections limited, with the Pulse Explore and Pulse Elite coming soon to bring this for users.
