The latest update to Meta Quest's VR avatars is the arrival of their legs, complementing their entire appearance when represented inside the virtual world via the Quest Home platform. Gone are the days when avatars were only half-bodied and seemingly floating, giving an off vibe to their online look, seemingly like the typical ghost depictions of the earlier pop culture.
Meta's new legs are under the beta phase for now, and users would have to wait for its arrival in the public version of the Quest VR's release to grow some legs for their virtual representation.
Meta Adds Legs to its Quest VR Avatars
The legs have entered the beta testing phase, and this is the latest offer from Meta that was spotted by beta users, claiming that it is available on Meta Quest version 57. For now, it is in the beta phase and is limited to users who are part of the program to try and see for themselves, what it is like having legs in the virtual world.
Its latest outing was made available to the Quest Home experience, where gamers could access it directly on the VR.
Other users asked if these legs would also be available to their avatars on Meta's Horizon Worlds, with the poster addressing that it was already made available on Horizon Worlds on the PC and Mobile app.
However, it would be a different update should it come to the VR platform on Quest.
Can You Look Down to See the Legs?
Getting these legs for your avatar is all good and exciting, but the real question lies in whether users can see the legs as depicted in the images seen.
According to UploadVR, users would not be able to see their legs when looking down. However, it is still visible when looking at the mirror or seeing it in third-person when present around other avatars on the Quest Home platform.
It would also be a challenge to sit down, crouch, or other knee-bending actions as it would not do so.
Meta's Quest VR and the Metaverse
One of the most significant focuses of Meta now is its metaverse, and back then, it was something that provided the world with a different kind of experience and connections. It also utilized its AI developments to help create the virtual world that Mark Zuckerberg has promised the world, one which is assumed to also be the system it would apply in creating his metaverse plans.
Venturing into the virtual world would give people bodies and customization options so that they may design it to look like their likeness or something that they want to be on this online platform. However, they were subjected to people invading their spaces or groping them, which is why Meta also introduced safety bubbles that would protect them from virtual harm.
The metaverse remains a continued development for Meta, with the company introducing various experiences, including the legs for its avatars, coming soon on Quest VR.
