Meta, UFC Partners to Bring the MMA Experience to Horizon Worlds

Mark Zuckerberg is going to have a lot of fun.

The latest partnership of Meta and UFC is set to bring the mixed-martial arts experience to its famed virtual platform, Horizon Worlds, centering on the sport's offers. This new experience is set to launch later this year and will bring the UFC to virtual reality from its massive content offerings and live matches, down to a massive social world revolving in MMA.

It is also a known fact that Mark Zuckerberg, Meta's CEO and one of the metaverse's proponents, is a massive fan of mixed-martial arts, specializing in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Meta announced the latest partnership it had, and this is with the renowned Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), soon coming to Horizon Worlds. This brings the MMA experience right to the user's headsets when inside the virtual platform.

"There are few experiences as riveting as watching an MMA fight live, but not everyone can catch the action in person. VR offers uniquely immersive events, letting fans get up close and personal for every takedown, submission, and knockout with UFC FIGHT PASS in Xtadium and Worlds," says Meta's Director of Metaverse Entertainment Content Sarah Malkin.

Sports Streaming and the MMA Social Experience in VR

One of the key offers here is the Xtadium from YBVR, but in Horizon Worlds, it will get the UFC FIGHT PASS for an all-access experience to streaming the live matches in 4K and an immersive 180-degree screen. This experience would put users beside the Octagon, much like paying for the premium seats.

However, that is not all, as Meta's Horizon Worlds team is also looking to bring the MMA experience in VR, with interactive games, rewards, and a chance to rank as a UFC Hall of Famer in the virtual platform.

Meta and UFC are eyeing a November launch of this new experience to Horizon Worlds, one that requires a Meta Quest VR to access.

Mark Zuckerberg's MMA and Horizon Worlds

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is known for previously flexing his gold and silver medals from a previous Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) competition, with the tech mogul being fond of the sport. This only shows how much MMA has a place in the CEO's heart, and soon will be a welcome addition to the virtual Meta Horizon Worlds.

Throughout the months, Meta's Horizon Worlds have incorporated different features and functions that expand more of the experience than being only a source of entertainment. From the many worlds and interactions from users, Meta also introduced a way for companies and virtual meetups to take place here with the latest incorporation of Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Horizon Worlds is more than virtual reality, and the team over at Meta Reality Labs is working to bring it to the first metaverse there is, with massive developments through the years. Soon, UFC and MMA fans are set to experience the Octagon right on Horizon Worlds, and apart from sports streaming, there is a lot more to discover in this new virtual world.
