Discord on Xbox is adding a new feature that would allow users to be able to stream their gameplay for their friends to see. This means users will be able to share their gaming experience with their friends live on their Xbox.
Microsoft Improved Its Xbox and Discord Integration by Adding a New Feature that Lets Them Stream Their Gameplay
According to the story by The Verge, Microsoft was reportedly improving its very own Xbox and Discord integration by adding a new feature for them to stream their gameplay. It was noted that Xbox owners will soon have the ability to stream their gameplay directly from their console to other Discord users.
This would allow players to show their friends more about their gameplay or even give advice when it comes to trying to solve certain challenges or battling bosses. The brand new feature would first be available to Xbox Insiders through the Alpha Skip-Ahead as well as Alpha rings of testing.
Xbox Discord Feature Can Still be Available on the Parties & Chats Section of the User's Dashboard
As also acknowledged in an article by Game Is Hard, the feature is also expected to reach more users in the coming months with eventually all Xbox players having this feature. Just like the existing Xbox Discord integration, it's all being built into the user's Parties & Chats section of their own dashboard.
Users will be able to get a "stream your game" option once they finally connect to the Discord server, giving them the ability to customize their stream. However, this remains a one-way streaming feature.
Discord's Initial Launch on Xbox was in September with Additional Features on November
So far, other Discord users won't be able to view streams coming from their friends while they are already broadcasting their gameplay on Discord. Microsoft initially launched the basic version of Discord for the Xbox in September.
However, in November, it finally allowed Xbox users to be able to directly connect to Discord through the use of voice channels without ever needing to use their phones. A few months after that, users were given the ability to view Xbox gamertags through the help of Discord calls, as seen in a video by Tom Warren.
The Feature Would be Available for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One
The article by The Verge notes that the continuous improvements would suggest that users will be able to see additional features in the future. It was noted that there's still hope for users to be able to view Discord streams via the Xbox and potentially even participate in texts.
However, this could be difficult since participating in other streams while on the Xbox, especially when playing, would take up more screen space, leaving the player with less room for them to focus directly on the game.
It was noted that the feature would be available on the Xbox Series X, the Xbox Series S, and the Xbox One. It will also function as it does on the PC and mobile versions.
