Sega game sales dropped to levels lower than they initially expected during the first quarter of its fiscal year, which ended on June 30, 2023. This came as the company dropped by over a hundred thousand units.

According to the story by Game Developer, Sega game sales saw a decline for the quarter that ended on June 30, 2023. This came as its combined unit sales not just for the new titles but also for the repeat ones dropped from 5.14 million units down to 4.87 million units.

Sega released its recent fiscal report but despite the numbers, Sega announced that overall, it was still able to come up with a steady performance due to certain operating expenses not being included.

When it comes to the result, Sega's Entertainment Contents division's Consumer sub-segment was reportedly responsible for video game operations. This particular department only generated $242.2 million.

Sonic Origins Plus and Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection Combined were Able to Sell 740,000 Copies

This reportedly saw an increase from the same period last year which reported at just $235.2 million. When it comes to other Sega highlights, Sonic Origins Plus as well as Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection were able to sell 740,000 copies combined during the reported quarter.

It was noted that the existing state of Sega's very own free-to-play titles was able to perform well based on their expectations. This includes certain titles by the company including One Piece Bounty Rush as well as Project Sekai Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku.

Sega is Expected to Complete Its Acquisition of Rovio Next Week

Sega's very own business forecast remains unchanged as well as the company expects its very own Entertainment Contents segment in order for it to be able to deliver sales of a whopping 305 billion yen by the end of the fiscal year in March 2024.

When it comes to the total amount, 205 billion yen is reportedly expected to be able to generated from Sega's very own Consumer sub-segment.
