Dota 2 Update: OG Makes Last-Minute Change, Moving Taiga to Inactive Roster—Why?

OG's current roaming support player Taiga is parting ways with the organization this time.

OG, one of the most decorated teams in Dota 2, is currently experiencing some hiccups ahead of the TI12 qualifiers.

The latest move from the organization has put Tommy "Taiga" Le on the inactive roster which means that OG will have to find an immediate replacement for the current Position 4 player.

OG's Crazy Roster Changes

After the exit of Ammar "ATF" Al-Jassaf in 2022, OG recruited DM, a former VP to play Position 3 in the squad. The never-ending roster change did not stop here as Kartik "Kitrak" Rathi and "Ivan" "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov joined OG as stand-ins. The team later bagged the ESL One Stockholm Major trophy.

The crazy shift did not pause here either as former OG coach Evgenii "Chu" Makarov and Mikhail "Misha" Agatov, former Position 5, swapped places. Sebastien "Ceb" Debs, who announced his retirement a year ago, just came back for a support role this time.

Taiga Leaves OG For Good

According to Gosugamers, the most recent roster change involves Taiga, a phenomenal Norwegian player who is known for his roaming skills. As OG parts ways with the Position 4 player, he's now free to explore his options as TI12 qualifiers draw closer.

The back-to-back ESL One champ officially became an OG member during the post-TI1- shuffle. At that time, the organization was already a mess since its most successful players had already left, including Anathan "ana" Pham, Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen, Jesse" JerAx" Vainikka, and Johan "N0tail" Sundstein.

OG welcomed Taiga as part of the young talents that will continue the organization's shining legacy. He was recruited along with Ammar, Misha, Bozhidar "bzm" Bogdanov, and Artem "Yuragi" Golubiev.

Why Did Taiga Decide to Rest For a While?

Just like Misha who has encountered several Visa issues because of his citizenship, other players have excuses why they can't commit to a tournament.

The latest case with Taiga was not about Visa or passport. According to a report by AFK Gaming, the reason why Taiga left OG is because of his mental health issues.

Taiga says that he will need to take a break away from the game so he could focus on this depression and anxiety. He already opened up this on Discord and explained why he needed to part ways with his beloved Dota 2 team.

With OG opening an extra slot for an unknown player, the fate of the org remains unstable. The search for the Position 5 player might take a long way for the team, but the members are hopeful to find an immediate substitute for Taiga soon.

The return of Ceb to the active roster will mean that OG is gambling big on the two-time TI champion. Although the players are all good in their roles, their experience is still raw compared to other lineups.

The TI12 qualifiers will kick off on Aug. 17. It's now or never for OG to dominate the upcoming matches since this will dictate their situation if they can enter TI12 or not this year.
