Nintendo Wii U Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon Online Play Now Working Again
With everything at stake for Nintendo, there's a need to address concerns related to the online play of Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon on Wii U.
The purging of the vulnerability took five months and it's indeed a disappointing moment for fans who wanted to play these games.
Recently, Nintendo wrote in its latest post that the current maintenance for the two Wii U games has ended. The fix has been issued as indicated in the notice on its website.
"In March 2023, Nintendo paused network services for the Wii U games Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 to address a vulnerability related to online play. The issue has now been fixed, and so we will resume online play for these games based on the schedule below. Please accept our sincere apologies for the extended waiting period," the post reads.
On March 3, Nintendo suddenly announced that the security problem related to Splatoon and Mario Kart 8's online play has prompted it to launch urgent maintenance.
At that time, the Japanese gaming giant did not give any specific date when the online play would be restored for these titles.
Hackers Can Remotely Control the User's Console Via Exploit

As long as the code is executed, the threat actor can freely control the Wii U without any interruptions.

Nintendo Hopes to Roll Out More Maintenance If Similar Case Like This Arises
As IGN reports, if the online play feature for the Wii U titles Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon will be disrupted for another time, Nintendo will be forced to discontinue it at "short notice."
When this happens, it assures that players can still enjoy the offline play of the games as it looks for possible fixes for the exploit.
In other news, a professional "Street Fighter 6" player forgot to turn off a controversial mod which later gave Chun-Li a naked look. It's too late before he realized his mistake after entering the Twitch tournament.
Corner2Corner was the one who spearheaded the tournament as part of the Twitch live stream. The unexpected bug happened during the intense match between Packz and Lensta.
While it's interesting to other viewers, the channel is facing a risk of being shut down because it reportedly violated the strict community guidelines of the platform.
