In-room entertainment is widely available in hotel rooms, but what if you want content from your device only, and do not want to pay for watching movies, series, or having a recap of your day? Good thing that LG announced that it is entering a significant collaboration with Apple to make AirPlay widely available on hotel smart televisions to stream the iPhone and iPad's content at any time.
LG claims to be the first to work with what Apple recently announced on WWDC's iOS 17 features, centering on AirPlay's improvement for users.
LG is the First to Collaborate with Apple for AirPlay in Hotel TVs
In the latest press release from LG, the South Korean technology company said that it is now teaming up with Apple to bring AirPlay into its 2023 Smart TVs available in various hotels. The goal is to share content from the device most securely and seamlessly as possible, especially as it connects to the hotel's network.
"This is a major advancement for in-room entertainment in the travel and hospitality industry, and underscores how closely we are listening to the needs of consumers who increasingly demand simple access to their personal media options on the biggest screen, wherever they are," said Michael Kosla, LG Business Solutions USA's Hospitality vice president.

iOS 17 AirPlay: Share iPhone and iPad Content in Hotels
With iOS 17's improved AirPlay, users may share more of their iPhone or iPad's content to different displays that are compatible to mirror or bring media to larger displays.
This means that users no longer need to log in to their Apple TV+, Netflix, Disney+, and other streaming platforms to hotel TVs as they could use the AirPlay feature for the compatible LG TVs.
It is yet unknown if this AirPlay compatibility would be available for older models of LG's smart displays.
Apple's iOS 17 Features and Developments
Apple is shaping up the iOS 17 to be one of the biggest updates for the iPhone and iPad, centering on the latest features that were made available via the WWDC 2023. More features are then explored or highlighted when the iOS 17 beta came, giving the public and developers a preview of what the company has to offer.
Instead of having the iPhone or iPad in the black screen only when locked, Apple is looking to bring a smart and interactive display for the device, a feature that iOS 17 aims to offer. This is a similar feature to the iPhone's Always On Display which it first introduced with 2022's iPhone 14 Pro, but is coming to older devices claims early reports.
AirPlay has been a significant feature for iPhones and compatible TV models available at home and in specific places that enables a larger form of entertainment by transferring the contents to the smart display. With LG's help, this integration will bring in-room entertainment to the next level whenever traveling or looking for a staycation without the hassle of paying for add-ons.
