The Apple Vision Pro may still be an intangible product for the public as it is not yet here, but the developers who aim to bring their apps and experiences to the XR device now receive the visionOS SDK. This new set of tools from Apple means that their work begins, focusing on upcoming offers from app developers to bring their different experiences to the mixed-reality device.
Its recent release of the SDK further solidifies the visionOS and Vision Pro as real device, and as early as now, Apple expects the creation of new apps for the future.
Apple visionOS SDK Release: New Tools for Developers
In the latest press release from Apple, the company announced the visionOS software development kit (SDK) that is now available for creators and developers to use for their ventures for the Vision Pro. This will help them access a wide range of tools from Apple that will help in bringing more for the Vision Pro, learn more about how it works, and deliver more to the public.
"Developers can get started building visionOS apps using the powerful frameworks they already know, and take their development even further with new innovative tools and technologies like Reality Composer Pro, to design all-new experiences for their users," said Susan Prescott, Apple's VP of Worldwide Developer Relations.
The Vision Pro awaits the future developments that are made for it, one that would help expand more of the wearable's features for its intended market to use.
Apps, Experiences, and MORE Coming for Vision Pro
This visionOS SDK aims to bring a set of tools for developers so they may start making new experiences for the public to access once the Vision Pro releases early next year.
Apart from apps, many possible experiences are coming to the Vision Pro thanks to the developer kit, including that games, productivity apps or suites, new ways to connect, social media, and possibly, an early version of the metaverse and other immersive worlds.
Apple's Vision Pro and the visionOS
Apple did not spare details for its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset when it introduced the device earlier this June, and it gave people a lot to expect from the wearable. From capturing events with one click to reviewing them for the owner's entertainment purposes, the Vision Pro brings some of the advanced features which debut the era of extended reality.
Recently, amidst the Cupertino giant's WWDC, it was revealed that it acquired a company called Mira, and it is an AR company that would soon join the Vision Pro development and aid Apple with its venture. Moreover, it was speculated that Mira will help Apple bring the Vision Pro to work, especially as its AR developments center on integrating the workplace.
The Vision Pro itself is packed with features, experiences, and apps that will help the public do many things with the mixed-reality device. However, it is not only for those experiences, with Apple aiming to broaden it by allowing developers to access different tools it created via the visionOS SDK, soon to help creators make apps for the future of XR.
