Apple iPhone 15 Sets to Receive Upgraded Hardware Specs, Building Competitive Ecosystem for Vision Pro

Apple will upgrade the hardware specifications of the upcoming iPhone series to build a new competitive ecosystem surrounding Vision Pro.

Apple is making efforts to develop a more competitive ecosystem for its offerings. Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed a new report detailing plans of the company to integrate the iPhone series with the Vision Pro ecosystem, starting with the iPhone 15 this year.

Building a More Competitive Ecosystem

As Apple announced the new Vision Pro headset at the 2023 Worldwide Developer Conference Keynote, several rumors have fluctuated. According to a report from Gaming Deputy, Apple will aggressively upgrade the hardware specifications of the upcoming iPhone as part of its development for a new competitive ecosystem surrounding Vision Pro.

This was revealed by Ming-Chi Kuo, a reliable analyst of Apple. Kuo details that the ecosystem is one of the key success factors for the new headset of the company, as it will include integration with other hardware products, and related main hardware specifications are Wi-Fi and UWB.

Kuo stated that Apple will be upgrading the Ultra Wideband chip inside the new iPhone 15, potentially coming in September. The newest iPhone series will use a new version of the chip that Apple currently brands as the U1 chip. The production process will move from 16nm to a more advanced 7nm becoming more efficient and reliable when it comes to power consumption.

Integration to Other Apple Products

The U1 chip debuted along with the iPhone 11, and it has been included in each iPhone model released since 2019. 9To5Mac reported that this includes hardware like Apple's AirTags item tracker, Apple Watches (Series 6 to newer models), HomePods (2nd Generation and Mini), and the latest AirPods Pro charging case.

For Apple software offerings, the U1 chip can also be found on Find My features, Precision Finding, AirDrop, Handoff, and more. Kuo believes that upgrading the U1 chip will offer an improved performance from these features, playing an important role in the integration between VisionPro and other products of the company.

No specific details were released or confirmed by Apple regarding what kind of hardware is inside the Vision Pro headset. However, it remains clear that the upcoming device will use some of its next-generation technology, hoping that the company will deeply integrate with the iPhone and other devices into the future.

Aside from the improved ecosystem, Kuo also stated potential outcomes for Apple in the future. This includes the iPhone 16 is slated as the first iPhone of the company that will come with support for the Wi-Fi 7 technology.

The analyst stated on Twitter, "This will be more conducive to Apple's integration of hardware products running on the same local network and provide a better ecosystem experience." Wi-Fi 7 is the upcoming generation standard for this technology, promising a big boost in transfer speed and data throughput.
