A unique collaboration between the "Call of Duty" game franchise and the "The Boys" television series seems to be happening.
The new crossover is reportedly for fans of Call of Duty's "Modern Warfare 2" and "Warzone 2.0," and the Amazon original series. The latest trailer for the upcoming Vondel update in Call of Duty's "Warzone 2" and multiplayer has teased the collaboration with "The Boys."
This Summer Game Fest 2023 trailer suggests that fans will see satire-based superheroes in "Modern Warfare 2" and "Warzone 2." It would be a sinister crossover as elements representing Vought, the superhero organization with deep government ties and chaotic management, the Seven, and more may arrive soon in the famed shooter game.
'Call of Duty' x 'The Boys' Tease a Crossover
A new Vondel map is reportedly being added to "Modern Warfare 2" and Warzone 2.0's central multiplayer mode, which will make for an intriguing mid-season upgrade that is part of the upcoming fourth season.
"The Boys" official Twitter account tweeted the screenshot of the tease, wherein you can only see an image of Homelander, played by Antony Starr, waving, along with a flying military helicopter and a building with "The Boys" logo on the side.
The Call of Duty Twitter account only replied with a meme face of MW2's Captain John Price. Details of the collaboration have not been revealed yet.
However, many speculated that "The Boys" main antihero protagonist, Billy Butcher, played by Karl Urban, would be the most likely candidate to come to the game if only one character was to be chosen.
Activision, the game developer of Call of Duty, recently revealed the Season 4 roadmap, and all of the upcoming operators were disclosed except for one called "Butch," who was teased as a "redacted" operator.
Will We See This in COD's Season 04?
Not much has been revealed about the crossover, but it will certainly be a massive change for Call of Duty's Season 4, which is coming out on Wednesday, June 14.
The game has already confirmed the new Vondel map but did not say if it has ties to Vought. Moreover, a new Battle Pass refresh, a new set of weapons, and more are expected in the new season.
'Call of Duty's' Crossovers
Activision Blizzard and Infinity Ward may not be as massive as "Fortnite" when bringing crossovers to its famed action shooter games, but when it does, it features some of the biggest names in pop culture.
One example would be the original Warzone's crossover with Godzilla and Kong, with the two legendary titans trampling everything in their path in the game. A previous leak also cited the 80's pop culture futuristic robot, The Terminator, a.k.a. T-101, particularly its skinless version, which already came to the famed "Call of Duty" games.
Activision Blizzard and Infinity Ward are known for their cryptic announcements of crossovers that make people guess.
