AT&T HTC One M8 Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update with VoLTE, HTC Eye Experience Coming This Week

The AT&T variant of the HTC One M8 is set to get the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update soon, which will bring the VoLTE HTC Eye software users' way this week.

On Friday, Jan. 23, HTC's vice president of product management Mo Versi let the cat out of the bag and divulged via Twitter that the impending software update for the HTC One M8 has received technical approval. With the green light in place, the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is set to release "early next week."

Not only will the smartphone from HTC get upgraded to Android 4.4.4 KitKat (from Android 4.4.3) and HD Voice (for improved voice quality when connected to another HD phone), but it will also usher in the Eye Experience for users eager to try out the software. This tidbit was not disclosed by AT&T in its changelog.

"We just received TA on 4.4.4 for AT&T M8. Will include VoLTE and the HTC Eye SW experience. OTA to start early next week," tweeted Mo Versi.

The Eye Experience is composed of several camera features that aid a user in creating intriguing front/rear camera pictures, as well as make the clicking of selfies simpler.

Earlier this week, AT&T put up the changelog for the 208MB update, which would bump up the HTC One M8 to version 0P6B120.

"Effective 5/14/2014, AT&T will release an Over the Air Software Update for the HTC One (M8) (0P6B120). This update will be made available to customers to download via firmware over the air (FOTA) over AT&T's wireless network," revealed AT&T in the changelog.

The AT&T changelog lists several enhancements and features the HTC One M8 would benefit from, including security and Bluetooth enhancements. The update will also add AMBS Cloud Messaging Integration and improve the battery performance of the smartphone. The Visual Voicemail and the AT&T Ready2Go also get updated. Lastly, the Copy and Paste camera feature gets added along with the Usage Manager app.

With the update to Android 4.4.4 KitKat set to roll out for the AT&T variant of the HTC One M8 soon, users will be hoping that an Android 5.0 Lollipop software update is not too far away either.
