Amazon is spreading more holiday cheer and it's offering a great deal on HTC's current flagship HTC One M8. For a limited time Amazon is selling the Verizon HTC One M8 for 1 cent when a buyer signs a new 2-year contract.
The year 2014 has been a very good one for HTC. The one-time king of Android smartphones hadn't reported a profit in several quarters, but things began to turn around this year when HTC reported its first profit and attributed the turnaround to the HTC One M8.
Many consider the HTC One M8 to be the best-designed smartphone on the market. When we reviewed the HTC One M8 back in April, we gave the handset high marks for its premium aluminum unibody case, bright and crisp 5-inch 1080p display, and its dual-front-facing BoomSound stereo speakers, which produced the best sounding audio on any smartphone we've used.
We recently reported that screenshots of the HTC One M8's Lollipop update leaked, which provides a great look at how HTC will incorporate its Sense UI Android skin on Android 5.0 Lollipop. The free software update is expected be released in the coming weeks and will make an already excellent smartphone even better with the sweet taste of Lollipop.
As part of Amazon's 12 Days of Deals sale, the company has slashed the price of the Verizon HTC One M8 to a penny with a new 2-year contract, which is a great savings over the $199.99 Verizon charges online and in stores.
The Verizon HTC One M8 features a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD 1080p display with a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch (ppi). The smartphone is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2 GB of RAM. It ships with 32 GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 64 GB microSD cards.
The HTC One M8's camera capabilities consist of an HTC UltraPixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat and selfies. Its large, non-removable 2,600 mAh battery will provide up to 12 hours of talk time and 292 hours of standby time.
