AMD graphics cards are getting a significant price cut, including its Radeon RX 6000 series.
The lowering price of AMD GPUs comes after no less than the NVIDIA CEO said that the expensive cost of graphics cards is here to stay. It is despite the better supply inventory these days.
AMD Graphics Cards Get Price Cuts
As per the news story by Digital Trends, the giant graphics card maker, AMD, has begun cutting the prices of its Radeon GPUs, making them cheaper than ever.
The news outlet notes that while this might sound good for consumers, it might not be the best news for its rival, NVIDIA.
The price cuts are pretty significant. For instance, the RX 6900 XT now only retails for a new MSRP of $699. It is roughly a $300 reduction from its previous price tag of nearly $1,000.
However, the markdown for the cheapest option, the RX 6400, is a bit less significant. It used to sell for $159, but now, it retails for $10 less, which is $149.
So it appears that AMD not only made its high-end graphics cards more affordable. But it has also made its more budget-friendly options cheaper than ever, albeit with smaller markdowns.
New AMD GPU MSRP
It is worth mentioning that the price cut comes across the entire Radeon GPU lineup, including the more expensive variants.
The RX 6500 XT 4GB now only costs $169 after AMD slashed its previous $199 price tag.
Meanwhile, the RX 6650 XT and the RX 6700 XT retails for $299 and $379, respectively, down from their old MSRP of $399 and $479. The more expensive RX 6750 XT previously sold for $549, but the significant price cut pulls it down to $419.
The previously $579 RX 6800 is now cheaper to the tune of $549, while its XT sibling, which used to be $649, currently retails for $599.
On top of that price cuts, AMD also made its higher-end RX 6950 XT and 6800 XT, which were at the $1,000 price point, more inexpensive.
The RX 6950 XT now costs $949, down from its previous pricing of more than $1,000. The RX 6900 XT is also much cheaper now at $699. It is a significant markdown from its $999 price tag.
NVIDIA Thinks Expensive GPUs Are Staying
Interestingly, the AMD GPU price cut comes after the NVIDIA boss, Jensen Huang, blurts out that graphics cards are staying expensive.
According to a report by Kotaku, the big boss of NVIDIA says that "the idea that the chip is going to go down in price is a story of the past." He further explained that the cost of production has skyrocketed.
