With high-speed internet becoming the standard, cloud-based gaming has been growing in popularity among gamers. Cloud gaming does not require players to have an over-the-top device to run games. Also, this gaming platform does not need to secure physical copies of games anymore.
Xbox Cloud Gaming and cloud-based gaming
All that users actually need to play a cloud-based game is a reliable internet connection. Also, players could save storage space by playing cloud games directly online instead of downloading them onto specific devices.
Rolling Stones shares that the video resolution on Xbox Cloud Gaming is also rather good, especially if you play the game using the Microsoft Edge browser, which significantly improves clarity. Although you can use alternative Bluetooth controllers that Xbox has approved, the Xbox Wireless Controller works best with Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Users of some cloud gaming services can even stream games directly to TVs, doing away with the console. The way cloud-based gaming functions is by streaming games rather than owning expensive high-end consoles or computers. Cloud gaming may just be our link to the future of gaming.
Microsoft Again Claims 'XCLOUD' Branding
Xbox Cloud Gaming is one of the forerunners of cloud-based gaming. Since its launch back in 2020, the cloud-based game library has featured hundreds of titles available for free. Along with classic game titles, Xbox Cloud Gaming updates its content every month to facilitate its growing user base's gaming appetite.

When the gaming on-demand platform was released, its developers first called it 'Project xCloud', a name undeniably more appealing. A considerable number of users still call the platform just 'xCloud' but Microsoft seems to be disinterested in this popular nickname. The tech giant has been using the branding in the past but not as an alternate name for Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Windows Central tells us that Microsoft has renewed the 'XCLOUD' trademark. This raises speculations that this codename for Xbox Cloud Gaming may have some new significance in the next few days.
This trademark renewal is first spotted by Windows App & Xbox Games correspondent Aggiornamenti Lumia. In a tweet by the Xbox news outlet, Microsoft is seen to be renewing its trademark for 'XCLOUD.'

If some of you are wondering how this news is relevant when we have been calling the cloud-based gaming platform 'XCloud' for some time now, 'Xbox Cloud Gaming' is the official name of the platform. People were calling the platform 'XCloud' because of its initial project name back in 2020, which turned out to be its unofficial brand name.
Microsoft's decision has been long anticipated, and the slang term "XCloud" will now have official status, hopefully. After everybody calls it 'Xcloud,' Microsoft finally gets the better name.
As of writing, the trademark application made by Microsoft is still live and pending and is yet to be assigned to an examiner.
