Xbox Cloud Gaming is now preparing new enhancements, such as the most-awaited keyboard and mouse support. As of writing, this gaming service of Microsoft still doesn't support keyboard and mouse controls.
"Microsoft's cloud gaming service Xbox Cloud Gaming lets you play your favorite Xbox games in the cloud, but it runs on physical Xbox consoles (not PCs) behind the scenes and doesn't support keyboard and mouse controls," said Microsoft via its official website.
But, this scenario is expected to change once Microsoft's new enhancements for its xCloud system arrive.
Xbox Cloud Gaming Keyboard, Mouse Support
According to The Verge's latest report, Microsoft will soon launch keyboard and mouse support features. However, the exact release date is not yet confirmed.
Morgan Brown, one of the software engineers on Microsoft's Xbox game streaming team, said they would soon add keyboard and mouse support to the popular Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming.
He added that while consumers wait, they can already add these features to their game. The integration of keyboard and mouse support is no longer new.
Jorg Neumann, one of the lead developers of Microsoft's "Flight Simulator," on Mar. 4. He claimed that these advanced xCloud enhancements would arrive around the summer of 2022.
As of writing, the titles expected to take advantage of the upcoming control features are "Minecraft," "Halo Infinite," "Sea of Thieves," as well as "Fortnite." But, experts stated that games would be joined by more titles as the Xbox Cloud Gaming library expand.
Other Xbox Cloud Gaming Enhancements
Aside from the new keyboard and mouse support, Microsoft also confirmed other xCloud enhancements that will further improve the streaming latency of their cloud-based titles.
These include the new Display Details API, a new function that can save up to 72ms of latency overall. Microsoft said that this is possible, thanks to its Direct Capture tech.
