Aside from consoles, Microsoft has confirmed that there is now also a shortage of its Xbox wireless controllers. The shortage of controllers comes on top of the shortage for the company's latest consoles, the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S.
Xbox Series X/S Restock Shortage Ever Since Its Launch
Despite launching more than a year ago, buyers still struggle to get their hands on Microsoft's newest console due to the global chip shortage and scalpers. When Microsoft first released its Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, stocks were almost immediately sold out, leaving buyers no choice but to purchase from scalpers.
Scalpers took advantage of the situation by buying out all available Xbox Series X/S restocks and selling them at higher prices. The practice still continues on with buyers either waiting for an opportunity to buy the consoles at SRP or buying from scalpers at higher prices.
Xbox Wireless Controller Now Hard to Buy Around the World
Now, not only will buyers have to struggle when it comes to purchasing the console, but they will also have problems when it comes to purchasing the Xbox wireless controller as well. As reported by VGA, the controller is already hard to find and even nonexistent in certain places like UK, France, Germany, Australia, and the Netherlands.
According to a report by IGN, the problem has even stretched to the US as well. An example given is that the controller, although available on Amazon US, will still ship out later on either in late July or in early August.
Microsoft Confirms the Global Shortage of the Controllers
According to the story by PC Mag, Microsoft themselves has confirmed that there is a global shortage when it comes to the Xbox wireless controllers. As per the company, they know that buyers are having a hard time when it comes to purchasing the wireless controller.
Microsoft points the finger at supply disruptions being the reason behind the lack of supply when it comes to controllers. As per a spokesperson's statement to VGA, Microsoft noted that they are already working as fast as possible with manufacturing and retail partners in order to deal with the issue.

Demand Could Skyrocket Due to Microsoft's Confirmation of the Shortage
The article suggests that users try to check their local retailer to find out whether the controller is available. As per PC Mag, in the US, the best place to find the Xbox controller is from either the Microsoft Store or from Best Buy.
The article, however, noted that due to the stock running out fast with retailers around the world, any remaining stock available on the online stores is "sure to be depleted quickly." It was also noted that due to Microsoft's confirmation, demand could surge even more, which in turn would make the controllers even harder to purchase.
