Microsoft Edge Rolls Out New Homepage for Xbox Cloud Gaming

One of the most reliable sources of revenue for Microsoft is gaming, to the extent that there have been speculations that the Xbox and Windows platforms will eventually be combined.

However, the tech giant created two-way links that would connect both systems while still keeping them apart. The most recent phase of this initiative is to bring Xbox console games to Windows via the Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming service.

As noted by Slash Gear, Xbox Cloud Gaming may be used on cellphones, and in fact, that is how it was designed. However, the game streaming platform has also been made available on PCs via the browser, as announced by Microsoft last Thursday.

Microsoft Edge's New Gaming Hub Homepage

Microsoft would usually use Edge for these kinds of projects, and as a result, it is releasing an upgrade that improves the software and elevates Edge to the level of a superior gaming hub compared to a specialized Xbox app in terms of cloud-based game streaming.

The company has stated in a blog post that Edge will now display all the information of an Xbox user, including their library and game suggestions, directly on the browser's new tab page.

If you're an Xbox player, you can immediately start playing a game by logging in if you have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership.

Players will also benefit from Edge's new Clarity Boost, particularly if they use it to broadcast video games. This feature is a Microsoft Edge-exclusive spatial upscaling function that is only compatible with Xbox Cloud Gaming and is designed to give the impression that you are playing on a console rather than streaming video from a remote server.

Microsoft Edge has something else to give in this upgrade for PC players without Xbox Cloud Gaming. When a game is opened, the browser's new Efficiency Mode essentially throttles Edge's resource usage, enabling the game to consume more CPU and memory without requiring you to quit the browser.

However, if you are not that big in gaming, Edge has included a separate Games menu with more lighthearted options like Mahjong and Solitaire, even though these apps are standard features and not optional add-ons.

Microsoft Edge is now focused on pulling out dozens of features on a regular basis since the classic Internet Explorer is completely gone. One of these features is a built-in VPN and a currency converter.

Among other features were made for financing and purchasing, which according to Slash Gear, has drawn harsh criticism for limiting the browser's functionality.
