An 11-seat armored speed demon named Kronos is only one of HighLand System's otherwordly designed vehicles. This hybrid submarine was inspired by the manta ray, featuring foldable wings and boasting 1,200 horsepower of propulsion!

Armored Submarine

As reported first by New Atlas, Kronos is intended for a combination of business, military, and, apparently, rescue activities. Its interior sports a harsh, largely windowless appearance that doesn't appear to be focused on luxury.

This armored submarine will be just over 9 m (29.6 ft) long and weigh about 10,000 kg (22,000 lb). Its fat wings can fold upward and be towed on a trailer.

Once submerged, it can accommodate 10 passengers, including the driver. A diesel generator and a 1,200 horsepower, 2,400 Nm (1,770 lb-ft), waterjet propulsion system are combined in its hybrid powertrain.

It also has a maximum critical depth of 250 m (820 ft) and a working depth of 100 m (328 ft). Additionally, the submarine's air supply can last for 36 hours.

But more interestingly, Kronos' performance figures are outrageous. HighLand Systems claims it can go 50 km/h (31 mph) underwater or 80 km/h (50 mph) on top of the water.

It also has enough battery capacity for a 36-hour all-electric expedition, with its diesel generator adding another 18 hours, bringing its range to an outstanding 54 hours.

All About Highland Systems

HighLand Systems is a company that pulls all the stops for its uniquely-designed vehicles. It was founded by Ukrainians and is currently situated in the UAE and the UK.

The company describes itself as an R&D and project management horde that has gathered a group of engineering experts from the defense industry.

According to New Atlas, the company's portfolio as a whole is equally insane. For example, they have the armored Buggy Hunter MK-200 and boisterous sci-fi like Phantom MPV.

Further information is provided in the company's brochure, including information on large, supersonic stealth drones, a variety of small and medium-sized UAVs, unmanned ground robots for hazardous tasks, and many more.
