Instagram Extends Reels to 90 Seconds, Adds 'Interactive Stickers' to Stories

Meta is closely watching TikTok and tries to copy the features that made it the most popular video-sharing app.

To keep up with the competition, the company has introduced new Instagram features, particularly for the Reels. The tech giant intends to help the creators this time through these improvements.

According to XDA Developers, Instagram is bringing the existing features of Stories to Reels. These include adding "interactive" stickers for this part, as well as the Quiz and Poll.

Other than that, the social media firm will be adding the ability to import directly to Reels. The feature will allow the user to incorporate background music for a clip. The video should last for at least five seconds.

That's the only thing that we could see in the app. IG also rolled out templates. The feature was first seen in April when it was still in the testing phase.

Instagram seems to borrow this concept from TikTok when it comes to creating videos on the platform. Through this feature, you can now easily add or deduct parts for your videos.

The 90-second Instagram Reels will be a huge help for creators who want to have a massive reach to their viewers.

Facebook Reels Are Getting New Features

Surprisingly, Meta is not only focused on transforming Instagram into a TikTok-level platform when it comes to Reels and Stories. Its very own Facebook app is getting another wave of changes this week.

Techcrunch reports that the platform will be releasing the Sound Sync toll for Facebook Reels. This feature can allow a user to sync a clip to a track.

Again, this option rings a bell for TikTok users since it has already existed on the platform. Moreover, FB will be adding voiceovers for those who want to add some stories to their short videos.

For professional creators, the company brings clipping tools that are essential for live recording. Additionally, game streamers and content makers will benefit from the vertical Reels.

The Live content will give them a more manageable display, especially when they are playing games. The dual-view is suited for showcasing the streamer's gameplay, as well as his/her own cam on-screen.

Apart from that, FB wants to launch suggested Reels for the global Feed. It should be noted that it will be present in Groups and Watch. This will help the creators gain more engagement from the public.

Meanwhile, Tech Times previously reported that Meta added a couple of new modes that will give the users more control over how the Feed works on Instagram.

According to the company, these modes refer to "Favorites" and "Following." Prior to that, Meta said that the "reverse-chronological view would be returning soon to the platform.
