According to the latest report by Digital Trends on Monday, Apr. 18, Instagram has commenced bringing the product tagging feature to all public accounts. Regardless of whether your account is intended for business or not, you can use this feature to your advantage.

Aside from uploading pictures and selfies, you can now utilize the product tags so your followers can see what you can offer on the platform. It's like a social media shopping page that you can view to search for product detail.

For mobile users, this feature is completely available and you can now start exploring what you can do with it. However, the tech publication writes that not its support is limited to some products and service providers.

How to Use Product Tagging Feature on Instagram

Digital Trends notes that using this feature only comes in seven easy steps. Make sure that you will properly follow each of them so you can get started as soon as possible.

  1. First, upload a photo and post it to your account. Your goal is to reach the caption page. You can do that by going to the top right corner and clicking the arrow there.
  2. Now that you are on the caption page, click "Tag people."
  3. Begin looking for a particular retailer or brand that you would like to tag on your post. Tag them afterward.
  4. After tagging your desired product or retailer, go to the bottom of your screen. You will see two options there: Products and People. Click the former.
  5. Then, you can search for the products that you will add. Click the photo before doing this. In addition, you will need to select those which will later be seen on the drop-down list.
  6. For confirmation, select the icon bearing a "checkmark." It's in the top-right corner.
  7. Finally, click "Share" so you can now publish it.

Soon, the Meta-owned platform is expected to introduce this feature to Stories. As of writing, the product tagging feature is only available for photo uploads.

In other news, The Guardian reported that Instagram was criticized for allowing content that promotes child exploitation.

Although Meta previously announced that it won't tolerate any related content to the sensitive subject, it appears that some posts are not reported despite being flagged as "suspicious."

This issue has ignited the concerns of many people. Many users think that the platform is not effectively using its reporting tools. Others question the legality of other content on IG.
