As of writing, Texas' power grids are still having some issues as the temperature rises. During the ongoing heatwave, outages were already experienced by power grid stations.

These power stations are essential for Texas since they provide electricity to more than 500,000 households. But, ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) confirmed that they went offline.

"A heatwave is expected to impact the grid in Texas over the next few days," said Tesla via its official warning message, which was posted by Reddit user u/KarlanMitchell.

The giant automaker said that Tesla drivers in Texas need to avoid charging their electric cars during peak hours, which are between 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time.

This means that the best time to power up your Tesla electric vehicle is around 9:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. the next day. If you want to see further details about the ongoing heatwave in Texas, you can visit this link.

How To Maintain EV During Heatwave

Since heatwaves can affect traditional cars and EV units, it is important to know how you can maintain your vehicle during hot temperatures.

  • Here are some tips you can follow to keep your EV's condition at its best:
  • Always park your car where there is a shade. This will limit the heat it receives from the sun.
  • Before going on a long journey, always use your vehicle's pre-conditioning feature.
  • Don't charge your EV at 100%. Instead, only power up your vehicle until its battery reaches around 80%.
  • If your electric vehicle has an eco-mode, use this while the weather is still hot.

On the other hand, the advanced Tesla Semi is now open for reservations and pre-orders.

Meanwhile, the Tesla keyless feature can actually be used by cybercriminals to take over your vehicle.
