Tesla now offers its Model Y Standard Range with 4680 battery cells to customers near its Gigafactory Texas, the Elon Musk-led electric vehicle (EV) firm told reservation holders in an email.
The tech giant now gives reservation holders an option to change their orders to one of the hottest EV offerings of Tesla, its all-new all-wheel-drive of the Model Y.
Tesla Model Y with 4680 Cells
The all-new Model Y Standard Range of Tesla made in the newly-opened Giga Texas sports a structural battery pack and 4680, as per a news story by Teslarati.
However, the EV maker only offers the new battery cells to the all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant of the Model Y sedan.
The Giga Texas-made Model Y Standard Range with 4680b battery cells can go as long as 279 miles in a single top-up. Its performance is also impressive, wherein it could accelerate from 0 miles per hour to 60 mph in merely 5 seconds.
The base model of the AWD Model Y rolls in 19-inch Gemini wheels. It flaunts a price tag of more than $60,000.
But that cost already comes with a couple of exciting bonuses from the giant EV maker, such as Autopilot, a 1-year subscription to Premium Connectivity, and Supercharger Network Access Plus Pay-as-you-go.
Tesla Offers New Model Y to Giga Texas Customers
The renowned disruptor of all-electric cars reportedly sent an email to its customers who are based near its newly-opened Giga Texas facility.
A Tesla customer, who goes by the Twitter username mmsganesh, tweeted a copy of the promotional email that reservation holders are reportedly receiving.
The customer email, which carries the enticing title "Accelerate Your Model Y Delivery," wrote that its customer could experience "one of the first vehicles built at Gigafactory Texas," the Model Y All-Wheel Drive.
The EV maker is now offering its customers an option to change their orders to the new all-wheel-drive version of Model Y to "accelerate" the delivery.
Tesla says that the new AWD Model Y is "only available in the area of near Giga Texas.

Tesla and 4680 Batteries
Meanwhile, the maker of the 4680 batteries that Tesla is using for its Model Y AWD, Panasonic, recently disclosed that the EV maker is asking them to ramp up its deliveries.
According to a recent report by InsideEVs, the chief financial officer of the Japanese tech giant, Hirokazu Umeda, revealed that Tesla wants faster deliveries of its 4680 battery cells.
