A new Tesla Shanghai factory is expected to begin construction this coming March. However, the exact date is not yet revealed by the giant automaker.
This new establishment was revealed after the EV developer sent new documents to the local city government in Shanghai, China.
In the documents, Tesla explained expanding its EV parts production. Now, familiar people with the automaker's activities claimed that the manufacturer would work on its new Shanghai plant as early as March.
New Tesla Shanghai Plant
According to Teslarati's latest report, once the new additional Shanghai manufacturing plant is completed, Tesla will be able to meet the rising EV demand in foreign territories.
Specifically, this new establishment is expected to help the automaker increase its production capacity by 2 million per year. This is much higher than the estimated 1 million production capacity increase.
This is not the only effort made by Tesla to enhance its EV productions in China. Electrek reported that the giant automaker is investing into its current Gigafactory Shanghai.
However, the exact amount is not yet confirmed. This is also the same case with the upcoming factory since the total cost for the new establishment is not yet announced.
New Tesla Shanghai Factory's Location
The unnamed insiders that revealed the upcoming Tesla Shanghai plant claimed that the building would be located near Gigafactory Shanghai.
However, it is not yet confirmed if it will be a new manufacturing plant or an extension to the current Gigafactory Shanghai of Tesla.
As of the moment, China is one of the largest markets of the giant automaker. Since this is the case, consumers in the Asian country will definitely see more similar efforts in the future as Tesla further improves its production capacity.
In other news, Tesla allegedly violated the clean air act, forcing it to pay a $275,000 fine to EPA. Meanwhile, the automaker recently announced that it is working on a new Tesla Steam video game innovation.
