A new Tesla Gigafactory Shanghai investment will improve the current EV production capacity of the manufacturing plant.
Tesla Gigafactory Shanghai averages around 450,000 electric cars every year. This is not really a bad number for the giant automaker.
However, Elon Musk is not content with this number since he wants to increase this record by 1 million yearly production capacity.
Well, the new investment is expected to do just that.
Tesla Gigafactory Shanghai's New Investment
According to Electrek's latest report, Tesla Gigafactory Shanghai provided new documents to the city's local government.

The giant automaker wants to expand its production parts in this new filing. Enhancements include better workforce and equipment changes.
Tesla explained that it would increase the number of workers, increase the time of the operating machines, as well as add production workshops.
As of the moment, the exact amount of the new factory investment is not yet confirmed. But, it might be higher compared to 2021's investment in November, which costs around $200 million.
Texas Gigafactory Also Being Enhanced
While Tesla Gigafactory Shanghai's investment focuses on the production capacity, Tesla Gigafactory Texas wants a cathode building.
Reuters reported that the automaker applied for a permit to expand its current car factory in Austin, Texas. The EV creator plans to do this by building a new cathode factory.
"I can confirm that this is for the Tesla project and this permit is for a cathode building," said the city development department's spokeswoman.
These are just some of the efforts made by Tesla to maintain its position as the top EV maker across the globe. You can definitely expect more from Elon Musk's tech company as it further enhances its electric car business.
In other news, the automaker launched its Tesla Car Colorizer in the United States and other regions outside China.
Meanwhile, Tesla's clean air act violation led to a whopping $275,000 fine.
