Tesla's steering wheel is likely to have two options soon, allowing its customers to choose between either a "Yoke" or a traditional "Round" one.
Tesla Leak: Yoke Steering Wheel Swap
As per a news story by Teslarati, a Tesla hacker that goes by the Twitter username "geentheonly" did some digging into the coding of the software of the EV tech giant, wherein he discovered a new steering option that might see the light of day anytime soon.
The news outlet noted that the Tesla hacker has a keen eye when it comes to the hints of what the automaker is working on by simply looking at its coding and software.
In fact, the hacker previously unraveled that Tesla is working on an option to activate the cabin-facing camera on its vehicles.
This time around, the hacker discovers that the EV tech giant of billionaire Elon Musk is likely working on more steering wheel options.
Green discovered a code from the latest software update of the automaker, which mentions the controversial Yoke steering wheel.
The code, known as the "STEERING-WHEEL-YOKE-SWAP," suggests that Tesla is working to give its customers an option to replace their unconventional steering wheel with its traditional counterpart.
The hacker opens the prompt, which mentions the Yoke steering wheel. After which, it says that it "sets steering wheel/yoke configurations, refresh configs, and update controllers."
When the code is run, it opens up a prompt that provides two options to choose from, either "Round" or "Yoke."
However, Teslarati noted in the same report that the EV maker has yet to confirm if a new option to swap the "Yoke" steering wheel is in the works.

Tesla 'Yoke' Steering Wheel
According to a news story by Electrek, the automaker first unveiled the "Yoke" butterfly steering wheel along with the debut of the new Tesla Model S.
The unconventional shape of the steering wheel has been controversial to its users and other bystanders. It comes as some argued that the design is problematic for a steering wheel, saying that it is hard to use while turning at low speeds.
On the other hand, others find the lack of any driving stalk to be the biggest issue of the Yoke design as they could not choose their drive mode on the steering wheel.
Despite that, Tesla went on to release the Yoke steering wheel on the new Model S Plaid by default. And as of writing, the EV maker has yet to give its customers an option to swap it with the traditional round one.
However, it is worth noting that a Tesla Model S owner replaces the Yoke steering wheel himself.
