Instagram is now letting its users post directly from their PCs to the feed, and it would not need the phone app or for the photo to be transferred to a handheld device for it to be posted. Before this, users need the app via the smartphone or tablets to post a photo to Instagram and their respective feeds, and it is a hassle to transfer media with this.
Instagram PC Post to Feed
According to Gizmodo, Instagram is already featuring the PC function for selected users, but is not entirely a public release or to be available for everyone's discretion. There may be users that have already seen this feature but it is not guaranteed for everyone to appear on their desktop apps or browsers just yet.
The PC app or direct browser posting is not that complicated, and it is like the application's posting procedures for a photo. First, users would have to press the post button with "+" and select the photos from their desktops. The browser or app would prompt to allow Instagram to gain access to files as well.
Next is that users should crop and adjust, as well as add filters or edit the photo's colors based on their preference. Lastly, there would be a page for captions, geo-tagging, and cross-posting to Facebook to complete the experience.
Instagram Other Features
Apart from the post from the PC of Instagram, the VP, and Head of Metaverse from Facebook, Vishal Shah, has revealed the new features coming to the multimedia application.
"Collab" is the new and latest feature of the company for its app, and it would focus on collaborations with regards to Reels, Lives, and Stories that would promote content creation.
What Took Instagram This Long?
Instagram has a lot of features to roll out this year, and it is intended for the betterment of the application, especially as it is Facebook's top-performing social media that people use around the world. It includes live stream scheduling for better integration and the empowerment of content creators and other features.
Social media is not shy of said features, especially as it brings an experience like no other for others. It also has that "Take a Break" function for a breather for the users, as social media exhaustion and burnout are real, especially amidst these times where a pandemic has pushed people to stay at home and their only escape is the internet.
Nevertheless, the new function of directly posting a photo from the desktop or PC could not have come sooner, especially as other features are already available on the platform. Users can freely view photos, stories, like and comment, search, and other of the most used features on IG. However, the posting only came now.
It may be late, but it still brought the feature for people to enjoy, and it is something that would expand the use of social media.
