A Clockwork Orange is not an easy movie to watch. And that's by design.
The 1971 Stanley Kubrick classic depicted a craven, degenerate youth (played by a very young Malcolm McDowell) in the near future who is "rehabilitated" after a gleefully violent crime spree. But of course, his "cure," which comes at the hands of an extreme form of aversion therapy, creates more problems than it fixes.
Just as rabid fans love to recreate their favorite movies and trailers in other mediums like LEGO, editable video games have become a new outlet for their creative homages. Team Fortress 2 instantly springs to mind as a prime example. But the open and wildly diverse playground that is Grand Theft Auto is the latest virtual film studio fans have taken advantage of.
A group of more than 12 GTA gamers put together this six-minute tribute to A Clockwork Orange, which plays out like a condensed version of the movie. Most impressive is how closely the main character's visage resembles Malcolm McDowell's appearance in the film. The whole thing's very well done, down to the camera angles, lighting, hair, makeup and even costumes (sans those trademark jockstraps).
Take a look, and keep in mind that this was made using consoles, not PCs.
