Amazon's Agentic AI Brings a 'Buy for Me' Feature That Also Works for Third-Party Websites

'Buy for Me' beta helps users purchase items from Amazon and other websites.

Amazon is now presenting users with a way to assign an AI agent to purchase items from their platform or third-party websites with only a click.

"Buy for Me" is the latest feature of Amazon's Shopping app, and it is powered by their new Amazon Nova AI system and a partner's model to automatically complete the checkout process for you.

Amazon's Agentic AI Brings the 'Buy For Me' Feature to Try

The latest announcement from Amazon introduces its new AI agent feature which focuses on helping users buy items and products, with the technology taking over almost the entire process for humans. This new "Buy for Me" feature is built-in to Amazon's Shopping app for users to test, and it will essentially complete the transaction for users.

This is powered by the Amazon Nova AI system as well as Anthropic's Claude technology, which the e-commerce tech giant has partnered with. Instead of undergoing the tedious process of filling up the different details to complete an order, the AI will do it for you.

Users only need to search for an item on the platform, and Amazon said that supported products would feature a "Buy for Me" button, with the feature simplifying the process of completing an order.

Amazon 'Buy For Me' Also Works for Third-Party Sites

According to Amazon, Buy for Me will complete the process by automatically inputting one's address, personal details, and payment method, which users may verify before the transaction is completed. The product details necessary for one's orders will also appear before Buy for Me does its AI magic.

Moreover, if one's preferred product is not available via Amazon's platform, Buy for Me will also search for it from third-party websites and complete the order for them, with the service also allowing users to track these orders via the app.

AI Agents: Will You Let It Take Over Your Life?

Google is among the first to introduce AI agents in the world via its release of Gemini 2.0, and the company claimed that users may program it to their preferred function.

In a recent study, researchers have sought to determine if these "agentic AI" technologies can build and capture human trust with what they have to offer, and they found out that it is possible to do so. There will be trial and error processes that will come along the way, but ultimately, AI agents may adopt from these tests and deliver a trustworthy "feel" to how they approach users and offer their services.

Companies like Google and OpenAI have focused more on showing users how AI's decision-making processes work in different scenarios, and this is part of expanding AI agents' functions that will soon apply to users' daily lives.
