There are plenty of things to love about Tesla's Model 3 and people who want to avoid animal products can enjoy it now, too.
According to Tesla, the interiors of the renowned Model 3 is now 100 percent leather-free, getting the automotive maker a big step closer to the call for completely vegan car options.
It should be noted that there's no confirmation that the Tesla Model 3 is entirely vegan from inside out. However, all of the interiors are now leather-free, which is certainly a huge step in the eventual development of a vegan-friendly car.
Fulfilling An Earlier Promise
All of Tesla's car comes with standard synthetic leather seats, but the company's vegan steering wheel used to be only offered as a special order item and has to be requested as an option.
During a Tesla shareholder's meeting earlier this year, owner and CEO Elon Musk promised that the company is working on making both the Model 3 and Model Y completely vegan.
According to Electrek, Musk explained that Tesla already has working designs of a non-heated synthetic leather steering wheel. At the time, the company was still fixing a few kinks, such as durability issues that are caused from the oils and other particles transferred constantly from drivers' hands.
Heated wheels, he added, are a bigger challenge for Tesla when it comes to developing vegan cars.
However, when a representative from PETA asked Musk on Tesla's plans about making all of its products entirely free of animal products, the executive appeared confident that a few models will at least reach this target.
"There might be the tiniest bit left, I'm not sure, but Model Y, Model 3, I think I'm confident about that," Musk responded. "We have a lot of things to solve but I think for sure the Model Y and the Model 3 soon and you can also special order for the S and X."
Tesla Model 3
Tesla developed Model 3 to be the world's first mass-market electric vehicle, a huge part of the company's push for sustainable energy. Powerful, safe, and innovative, the Model 3 is considered by many to be top-of-the-line in automotive manufacturing.
In a report on luxury vehicles by Kelley Blue Book Brand Watch, Tesla's Model 3 is the number one most considered luxury car model in the second quarter of 2019. It's the first time this particular model hit the top spot, replacing the BMW 3 Series in the process.
