Tesla App Is Back After Disappearing From Google Play Store

The Tesla app suddenly vanished from the Google Play Store, and even those who had downloaded it before could not access it. There is so far no explanation for the disappearance, but users can find it on the store again after the short hiatus.

Tesla App Disappearance From Play Store

On Reddit, a Tesla owner detailed how he discovered that the Tesla app was gone from the Play Store. Evidently, he was setting his new Galaxy Note 10+ and was trying to download the Tesla app from the Google Play Store but could not find it. Thinking it was just a mistake, he went to the Tesla website to download it from there but it also said that the application could not be found.

True enough, the Tesla app was not available for download through the Play Store even for those who have downloaded it before. At the time, however, it could still be downloaded elsewhere and works fine for those who already have it installed.

Temporary Problem

The app eventually reappeared on the Play Store hours after the mysterious disappearance, and there is so far no word on why it went missing in the first place. It is possible that a recent update caused an issue, or perhaps Tesla or Google Play made the conscious decision to remove it for a still unknown reason.

No matter the reason, it seems to be a temporary problem that has been resolved with the app’s reappearance.

Tesla App

The Tesla app is a companion that allows direct communication between Tesla vehicles and the owners. It serves many functions including locating the vehicle or tracking its movements, heating or cooling the vehicle beforehand, allowing passengers to control media, flashing the lights or honking the horn of the car to find it in a parking lot, and in Tesla vehicles with autopilot mode, summoning the vehicle from the garage or parking space.

Clearly, the app is a handy companion for Tesla owners. It is not surprising that losing it on the Play Store was an issue for the user.
