These days, do phones still need to be unveiled officially? They get leaked days leading up to the official reveal, anyway, so why bother holding a big event to unwrap something eagle-eyed tech readers have already been feasting on?
All jokes aside, here's the OnePlus 7 Pro. It's got a nearly bezel-less display without a notch, just like OnePlus hinted at, and it's got a three-camera array on the back, which is exactly what the company teased via its recent Twitter post.
The leaked renders are courtesy of WinFuture, a publication noted for showing off phones ahead of schedule. Beyond the massive display and the triple-camera setup, there's not much else to see, though. There's a popup camera for selfies, it's worth noting, but it's now shown in the renders.
OnePlus 7 Pro Display
Perhaps the most interesting thing about the OnePlus 7 Pro is allegedly its "breakthrough" display, as CEO Pete Lau puts it. What Lau means exactly is uncertain, but rumors say he's referring to the screen's 90 Hz refresh rate, which would offer a smoother experience when gaming and snappier, more fluid animations when navigating the user interface.
It's not clear why Lau is calling that a "breakthrough," though — the Razer Phone and the Asus ROG phone have the same exact screen. But the OnePlus 7 Pro might have an OLED display like its predecessors, which would make it the first 90 Hz OLED smartphone display.
OnePlus has also confirmed that its upcoming flagship device will be getting a 5G version. It's not clear, however, if there are differences in terms of specs and design between this model and the regular OnePlus 7 Pro. Expect OnePlus to shed more light on this at its May 14 event.
OnePlus 7 Pro Specs
The rumored specs sheet for the OnePlus 7 Pro lists the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 as its processor, between 6 GB to 12 GB of RAM, and a respectable 4,000 mAh battery. Other rumors point to a Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display, stereo speakers, and as shown in the leaked renders, a triple-camera setup. OnePlus claimed recently that the phone can compete with top-tier flagships when it comes to mobile photography.
While everything about this phone is practically revealed, there's always a chance for a surprise or two at the official unveiling later this month. As always, make sure to check back with Tech Times as we learn more. Feel free to sound off in the comments section below if you have any thoughts!
