OnePlus has officially announced the details for the launch event of the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.
It's scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. EDT on May 14 at Pier 94 in New York.
OnePlus 7 Launch Event
In a forum post, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau revealed all the details for the show, calling it the company's "greatest launch event ever."
Tickets will be available at a discounted price of $20 a pop for early birds starting at 11 a.m. EDT on April 25. After 48 hours, regular and Plus One tickets will be available.
For those who can't make it, OnePlus is going to live stream the whole thing on its YouTube channel at the same time as the event kicks off in New York, or in other words, at 11 a.m. EDT on May 14 as well.
The Party Is Global
For the record, there will be four OnePlus 7 launch events across the globe, one of which is obviously in the United States. The others will be held at 4 p.m. BST on May 14 at Printworks in London, United Kingdom; at 8:15 p.m. IST on May 14 at the Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre in Bangalore, India; and at 2 p.m. CST on May 16 at Yanqi Lake in Beijing, China.
OnePlus 7 Teasers
Lau has already hyped up the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro before. While the details are, for the most part, vague, they do give an idea of what to expect.
In a tweet, he said that the phones would be "fast and smooth," even going so far as to mention "smooth" three times. Talking to The Verge, he also mentioned that the screen will be "super smooth and very crisp." "Smooth" here could be referring to a display with a 90 Hz refresh rate, a feature rumored to be in the new phones.
OnePlus 7 Rumors And Leaks
Earlier in April, leaksters have already said that OnePlus is going to hold its launch event for its newest phones on May 14, and as it turns out, they were right about that. This means that some of the partial specs and features they revealed could also turn out to be true.
That said, the OnePlus 7 could have a 6.4-inch flat display with a teardrop notch for the front camera and a dual-camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary sensor. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 7 Pro could sport a 6.64-inch curved display with a pop-up front camera, a triple-camera configuration with a 48-megapixel primary sensor coupled with telephoto and ultra-wide lenses. The OnePlus 7 Pro could also sport 5G connectivity, or at least, a variant of it.
The OnePlus 7 launch page also allows fans to add the event to their calendar so they won't forget and to subscribe to the smartphone maker's newsletter and get a chance to win a free ticket to the launch event.
