Got a PS4 for Christmas? Here are the Best Games of 2014 and Games for Your 2015 Wishlist

The PlayStation 4 now has a healthy library of popular games, which only proves how powerful Sony's latest console is. With more resources to work with, developers can truly create more types of experiences for true blue PS4 gamers.

Some of the game reviewing sites came up with their own list of the best games of PS4 in 2014. There were even categories where all the games that were listed were recommended personally by each member of the reviewing team.

Kotaku simply included 12 gaming titles in their list of the best games for the PS4. These are:

1. Transistor

2. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

3. Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition

4. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

5. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

6. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

7. Grand Theft Auto V

8. Wolfenstein: The New Order

9. PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate

10. Destiny

11. The Last of Us: Remastered

12. Dragon Age: Inquisition

The team from US Gamer named more titles as they created several categories when naming the best PS4 titles.

"This complete list of all PS4 games tells you which ones are unmissable, and which ones you should leave on the shelf," said the team.

The games were grouped into three categories, with each category being given a number of stars, from 4 stars to 4.5 stars to 5 stars.

The first category, "The Very Best," lists down the gaming titles which have all earned five stars. These include Flower, Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition, Watch Dogs, LittleBigPlanet3, Need for Speed: Rivals and Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare.

The next category, "Highly Recommended," includes gaming titles that each earned 4.5 stars in their rating. These are Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Rosegun, Guacamelee Super Turbo Champion Edition, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Grand Theft Auto V, Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, Last of Us: Remastered, NBA 2K15, Never Alone, Alien Isolation, FIFA 15, Guilty Gear Xrd - SIGN and Shadow of Mordor.

The last category, "Recommended," presents titles that each earned 4 stars. These are Call of Duty: Ghosts, Infamous: Second Son, Mercenary Kings, Sound Shapes, MotoGP14, Aqua Kitty DX, Game of Thrones: Iron from Ice, Pinball Arcade, Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, Outlast, Sleeping Dogs, Costume Quest 2 and Skylanders: Trap Team.

Gamespot picked Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor as the "2014 Game of the Year." It beats other nominees such as Dragon Age: Inquisition, Far Cry 4, Destiny and Transistor.

At least 10 titles belong to the cluster of the most anticipated games of 2015, which gamers should have in their wishlist. With a number of titles scheduled to come out, this list rounds up the ones the gaming community is most excited for:
