LG's next flagship smartphone is reportedly an audio powerhouse. In the industry's quest to innovate the smartphone, manufacturers have mostly focused on the camera, the design, the screen, and security features.
Meanwhile, audio, perhaps one of the most important components of an electronics device, has largely been overlooked if not completely ignored in terms of innovation. While a couple of manufacturers, such as HTC and LG, have made smartphones with sophisticated audio capabilities, speakers have mostly failed to wow consumers, but it appears LG is bringing audio up a notch with its next device.
LG G7 ThinQ Boombox Speaker
According to rumors, the LG G7 ThinQ will boast speakers over ten times louder than most smartphones. This is apparently thanks to the phone's built-in Boombox Speaker, which is said to increase the level of sound by over 6 dB and also double bass production. LG has found a way to carve out space inside the phone in such a way that it acts as a resonance chamber, amplifying sound.
As Phone Arena reports, the feature shines when the device is placed on a box or on other surfaces because the sound gets even more amplified.
That's not all. The phone will apparently also have DTS:X 3D Surround Sound, which creates an immersive, 3D Surround Sound listening experience through headphones.
There's more. Like with its previous smartphones, LG will slip in a Hi-Fi Quad DAC component in the G7 ThinQ, which is a godsend for audiophiles out there. For the uninitiated, a Quad DAC is an audio component found in most professional audio players that's able to play high-fidelity sound files. This means the LG G7 ThinQ can play uncompressed music, allowing users to get the best audio experience possible. Sure, most probably won't even care about this feature at all, but there's something to be said about LG knowing what audiophiles want.
The G7 ThinQ will support the MQA format, which keeps sound quality high but the file size low.
LG has really outdone itself this time in terms of audio. At a time when manufacturers are increasingly removing the headphone jack, LG remains faithful about audio performance and accessibility.
LG G7 ThinQ
Per rumors, the G7 ThinQ will incorporate a notch design similar in style to the iPhone X but narrower. It can be removed via software, though. Renders of the phone leaked recently, so its design is practically revealed already. The 6.1-inch display is reportedly going to offer up to 1,000 nits of brightness, which is really brighter than what other smartphones are capable of outputting. Expect flagship-level specs and a flagship-level price on this phone.
