'GTA Online' PC Players Being Banned For No Reason After Latest Update

Grand Theft Auto Online players on the PC are being banned for no reason, with the problem allegedly related to the latest update for the online component of Grand Theft Auto 5.

Grand Theft Auto 5 holds the title as the best-selling video game of all time in the United States, and much of that success has been attributed to GTA Online. Grand Theft Auto 5 sales are still going strong thanks to GTA Online, and this is probably why Grand Theft Auto 6 is taking so long.

'GTA Online' PC Players Wrongfully Banned

The online community of GTA Online has reported a wave of wrongful bannings affecting PC players, taking them out from the game for 30 days.

A constantly updating post on the GTA Online subreddit was started by user MikeRaven11, collecting all the information that gamers have regarding the wrongful bannings. The consensus is that the bannings started happening after developer Rockstar Games rolled out the Southern San Andreas Super Sport Series, which added a new car and new racing events for stock cars.

Some users reported that their anti-cheat software flagged all the players in their session were using illegal mods, which is unheard of. There have been theories that the bannings are related to the game somehow seeing Tunables as illegal mods, which has caused players to be booted out of GTA Online.

Banned players will always say that they did nothing wrong, but the scale of the reports of wrongful bannings says that this is indeed a widespread problem that Rockstar Games needs to fix.

What Now, Rockstar Games?

Unfortunately, Rockstar Games has not yet issued an official statement on the wrongful bannings. However, it appears that the developer is working behind the scenes to try to fix the problem, with updates being discovered for the Tunables Editor.

The issue, however, has apparently not yet been resolved. It is not helping that a support representative for Rockstar Games said that it will not be able to disclose the reason behind the bans and that players will have no choice but to wait 30 days before they are again able to play GTA Online.

Last month, publisher Take-Two Interactive claimed that its focus has always been "on players, not payers," a mindset that has continuously attracted more players to Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA Online. What is happening with the wrongful bannings, specifically the silence of Rockstar Games on the problem, is clearly the opposite of that mantra.
