PlayerUnknown's Battleground is adding the Event Mode, featuring special events with unique battle parameters. The aim is to provide battle experiences different from regular matches.
'PUBG' First Event Mode Now Live
The first event is now live on PUBG's test servers, and anyone with the game can participate. It can be accessed from the bottom left of the main menu.
The first iteration is not that different from the public matches. It pits squads against each other, but each team can now have up to eight members. To compensate for the increased number of players, the studio also doubled the rifle drop rate.
Although the first iteration has similar rules with only a couple of changes, it still provides a whole new experience. The increase in enemy number puts more pressure and tension, but it makes for longer and more dangerous confrontations.
Players can only play TPP on Erangel for now, which the studio claims to be for effective matchmaking. Still, they will earn BP after every match, but the Event Mode will be unranked.
Future Events To Feature More Exciting Experiences
The first iteration of the Event Mode is pretty simple, as the PUBG Corporation intends it to be. The studio is still testing the basics, plus the system was pretty much only created recently. Players can, however, expect more exciting features in the future.
One such feature that PUBG gamers will see in the next iteration is the Flare Gun. The studio shared an image in its post, but it didn't reveal yet what it will be used for.
Other than that, there will be new content coming with the Event Mode. Most of it will only be available for a limited time, suggesting that some will be for keeps. It's still unclear whether the Flare Gun will be time-limited or not.
The studio has further plans for exciting Custom Games ahead for PUBG players, which should keep the game fresh in light of Fortnite's current popularity. The Event Mode allows the studio to experiment with different rules and to try new features.
"Using the Event Mode, players will be able [to] have Battle Royale experiences otherwise not available in the public matches," the studio said in a post.
The studio is yet to announce when the Event Mode will move to PlayerUnknown's Battleground live servers, but players expect it to be soon.
