Overkill's 'The Walking Dead' Launches New Trailer: Here's Everything We Know About The Four-Player Co-Op Shooter

A new trailer and more details have been released for the long-awaited The Walking Dead from developer Overkill Software and publisher Starbreeze.

Overkill's The Walking Dead was first announced in August 2014 with a 2016 release date. The game has obviously been delayed, but it appears that there is now real progress for the zombie-infested shooter.

Everything We Know About Overkill's 'The Walking Dead'

Overkill's The Walking Dead will be a four-player co-op first-person shooter that brings back memories of the once massively popular Left 4 Dead.

The game will happen within the universe of The Walking Dead but will be based on the aftermath of the zombie apocalypse in Washington DC. Players, however, will not only be killing zombies, as there will also be human opponents.

In Overkill's The Walking Dead, players will take on different kinds of missions and raids, all of which will lead to the acquisition of more supplies and the recruitment of more survivors to strengthen the base camp. Teams will be able to choose how they want to complete these missions and raids, including killing off the enemies under stealth and charging head-on and setting everything on fire.

There are four playable characters in Overkill's The Walking Dead, with each character featuring their own story, skill trees, and special abilities. One of these characters is Aidan, the focus of the new trailer that Overkill released for the upcoming game.

Overkill's 'The Walking Dead' Trailer: Meet Aidan

Overkill released a trailer for the game that focused on Aidan, one of the playable characters in the game.

In the video, Aidan, a former architect, was shown walking in front of the White House in what appeared to be a regular day at work. The footage then shifts to what Washington DC looked after the zombie outbreak, with Aidan moving through a street filled with human and zombie corpses. Pushing the horn on one of the destroyed vehicles allowed Aidan to awaken the dormant zombies, as he then put on his hood and starts bashing the undead with his baseball bat.

The trailer does not reveal the skills that Aidan will have in Overkill's The Walking Dead. However, with his weapon of choice, Aidan would likely focus on melee attacks.

Overkill's The Walking Dead will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on Steam. The game will likely make an appearance at E3 2018, in preparation for its launch next fall.
