Fangirls have been cosplaying as Harley Quinn for years. It's very common to see dozens of them wandering exhibit halls during comic book conventions.

But now we're getting a definitive Harley Quinn as she's prepared to hit the big screen for the first time ever, in the flesh. Margot Robbie's flesh, to be exact. What will her look be like in the Suicide Squad movie? Will they go old school with the full-body spandex? Will they go punk rock with something more like the Batman: Arkham games?

Whatever kind of costume and makeup Robbie dons, it won't be easy living up to fan expectations. Fans like the ladies below, who have taken Harley Quinn cosplay to stratospheric heights.

The details on this first one are just stunning. This is the gold standard that Suicide Squad should attempt to live up to.

This one goes in an Alice in Wonderland direction. Which admittedly works, visually.

When Harley made her debut (she premiered on one of the Batman cartoons before making the jump to comics), she looked a lot like this.

Here's one that takes Harley's traditional look and translates it into something more realistic, without losing its Harley-ness. Could easily see this happening on the big screen.

This one nails the classic look perfectly. There's no way they're going to do this for the movie, but this is the level of quality we'd expect to see if they did.

Something like this might be a bit too sexual for a movie, but you never know.
