Bethesda has released a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One demo for Prey, along with several other details regarding the alien shooter.
Prey, one of the most anticipated video games for 2017, is a reimagining of the game with the same title that was released in 2006. Players take on the role of Morgan Yu as he fights to survive through the horde of aliens that has overrun his spacecraft.
'Prey' Demo For PS4, Xbox One
The demo, Prey: Opening Hour, allows gamers to play through the first hour of the upcoming shooter. The demo should be enough to give players a good glimpse of Prey's story and mechanics, including the Mimic aliens that are able to replicate the look of normal items.
Unfortunately for PC gamers, the demo for Prey is only available for consoles. While the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions can already be tried out through the demo, leading to early reviews, PC players will have no choice but to wait for the game to be released before they receive information on how Prey plays on the PC.
A spokesperson for Bethesda said that the lack of a PC demo for Prey is due to developer Arkane Studios' focus on optimizing and finalizing the game's PC version.
Other 'Prey' Details
In the post that announced the Prey demo, Bethesda also released the complete list of achievements and trophies that players will be able to acquire in the game. The list contains several spoilers, so players who would like to uncover Prey's plot on their own should avoid looking at it.
Bethesda has also revealed the minimum and recommended PC specifications for running Prey. At minimum, the game will require either an Intel i5-2400 or AMD FX-8320 CPU, a GTX 660 2GB or AMD Radeon 7850 2GB GPU, and 8 GB of RAM. Recommended specifications, meanwhile, are an Intel i7-2600K or AMD FX-8350 CPU, a GTX 970 4GB or AMD R9 290 4GB GPU, and 16 GB of RAM.
The recommended free space for consoles to install Prey is 42 GB for the PlayStation 4 and 38 GB for the Xbox One. The game will come with a patch that will roll out upon launch, which will take up space in addition to the installation of Prey.
A gameplay trailer released in January showed Yu fighting through the aliens, known as Typhons, who have overrun the spacecraft named Talos I after experiments went horribly awry. Players will be able to acquire the powers of the Mimics, allowing them to shapeshift into objects such as turrets to shoot down the aliens.
The trailer also showed off several guns, including the GLOO Gun that can both cover up leaks and pin enemies to walls.
'Prey' Release Date
